Nagô MKE Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

The Short Version

Train hard. Treat others with respect. Be safe.

The Longer Version

Train hard.

Take class seriously. Show up on time, ready to train. Capoeira is hard, but if you have a growth mindset, you’ll accomplish more than you might expect. Push yourself.

Treat others with respect.

Respect for others is non-negotiable. Respect the teacher, respect the students, respect the training space. Be kind and inclusive. Harassment and other anti-social behavior (belittling, bullying, etc.) are not tolerated. Instead, adopt an ethos of mutual encouragement and consideration of others. This includes picking up after yourself.

Be safe.

Capoeira is dangerous. Given that people of all ages, shapes, and sizes play capoeira, everyone is expected to calibrate to their partner. Be aware of where your body is in space. People who are big and strong have an especially important responsibility not to injure others.

Code of Conduct Accountability

If at any point you think or feel that the Code of Conduct is not being followed, you’re encouraged to speak to Professor Arrepiado, or any of our teachers. Our goal is to hold everyone (teachers included) to these standards.
